Couple finds gold coins worth Rs 2.3 crore hidden under home they’ve lived in for 10 years

A couple in the UK is set to become richer by £2,50,000 (Rs 2.3 crores) after finding a huge stash of  gold  coins underneath the kitchen floor of their home they've lived in for 10 years. The hoard of 264 gold pieces, which date back more than 400 years, was uncovered during renovation work at the North Yorkshire home in July 2019, according to reports. The anonymous pair stumbled upon it after lifting the floorboards of their 18th-century property. The coins were stored inside a metal can buried under six inches of concrete. Interestingly, the couple had no clue about the coins despite living on the property for over 10 years. The real worth of the coins was realised when experts looked at the contents of the can. Some of the gold coins date from 1610 to 1727, said reports. The expert analysis was done by London auctioneers Spink & Son, who visited the property at the request of the couple. Further analysis by the team revealed the coins originally belonged to th...

Tea café brand Chaayos came under fire on Thursday after social media users pointed out that its Twitter account liked 'offensive' tweets. While the company issued a statement condemning the action, founder and CEO Nitin Saluja claimed that the Twitter account of Chaayos was hacked for about half hour when those offensive tweets were liked. "I want to personally ensure everyone that as a founder and as an organisation, we respect all faiths equally," Saluja tweeted. Under the 'likes' button of Chaayos, those tweets were found by social media users. One such tweet said, "Radical Muslims are snakes, moderate Muslims are the grass they hide in". In its statement, Chaayos said, "There was an offensive tweet that was inadvertently liked from our account. Chaayos detested and denies any view mentioned in the said tweet. We apologise to everyone and to those who were impacted by it." "We want to assure our guests and team that as a respons...

BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s system hacked? Fans speculate after more leaked photos with BTS’ V rise on internet

Are  BTS  member  V  and  BLACKPINK  member  Jennie  dating? The matter is not so simple anymore. After the first Twitter user allegedly leaked photos of the two K-pop stars dating and snapping love-filled photos, a new account has come up with more. In May this year, a photo of V and Jennie vacationing on Jeju Island went viral. At the time, BLACKPINK’s agency YG Entertainment came back with no comments on the rumors. BIGHIT MUSIC has always been quiet about the same. In August, a Twitter account named ‘gurumiharibo’ began sharing selfies of the two allegedly hanging out together in Los Angeles as well as V’s home. The photos supposedly taken from Jennie’s phone were analysed by multiple professionals and the results were polarised just like their fans’ opinions. After the suspension of their Twitter account, the user claimed that they had spoken with many people relevant to the issue and had decided to not post any more content. Moreover...

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner: Gun jams during bid to kill Argentina vice-president

Argentina's vice-president has narrowly avoided assassination after a gunman's weapon jammed as he aimed at her. Footage shows the moment Cristina Fernández de Kirchner - surrounded by a mob of supporters - found herself face-to-face with the loaded weapon. The former president was returning home from court, where she faces allegations of corruption. She denies the charges. Police said the gunman, who local media identified as a 35-year-old Brazilian man, has been taken into custody. They are attempting to establish a motive for the attack on the left-leaning populist, who was Argentina's president from 2007 to 2015, and its first lady for four years before that. President Alberto Fernández revealed the gun was loaded with five bullets, but failed to fire when triggered. Video circulating on social media shows the gun emerging from the crowd, and Ms Fernández de Kirchner ducking to avoid it - covering her ears as she crouches. In another video, people in the crowd appear...

Saudi Arabia investigates girls' orphanage beating video

Saudi authorities say they have opened an investigation after videos posted online appeared to show security forces beating teenage girls at an orphanage. In the unverified footage,  police and officials in plainclothes are purportedly seen raiding the Social Education House in Khamis Mushait . One official seems to drag a screaming girl by her hair along the ground, while a policeman hits her with a belt. Other girls are shown being chased and beaten with wooden sticks. The circumstances and the timing of the incident were not clear, but a Twitter user who claimed she edited the videos wrote that the girls had been staging a "strike against corruption and injustice" after they "demanded their rights from the orphanage and were rejected". She later posted photographs showing what she said were bruises some of the girls had sustained in the raid and alleged that a senior official had threatened them if the videos were not taken down from social media. Human rights...

Cataclysmic Floods Kill 1,100 In Pakistan, Including 380 Children

Charsadda, Pakistan:  Torrential rains and flooding have submerged a third of Pakistan and killed more than 1,100 people, including 380 children as the United Nations appealed for aid on Tuesday for what it described as an "unprecedented climate catastrophe." Army helicopters plucked stranded families and dropped food packages to inaccessible areas as the  historic deluge , triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rains, destroyed homes, businesses, infrastructure and crops, impacting 33 million people, 15% of the 220 million-strong South Asian nation. The country has received nearly 190% more rain than the 30-year average in the quarter through August this year, totalling 390.7 millimetres (15.38 inches). Sindh province, with a population of 50 million, was hardest hit, getting 466% more rain than the 30-year average. Vladimir Putin Denies Mikhail Gorbachev State Funeral, Will Stay Away

Russian President Vladimir Putin is to miss the funeral of the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, denying the man who failed to prevent the collapse of the Soviet empire the full state honours granted to Boris Yeltsin. Gorbachev, idolised in the West for allowing eastern Europe to escape Soviet communist control but unloved at home for the chaos that his "perestroika" reforms unleashed, will be buried on Saturday after a public ceremony in Moscow's Hall of Columns. The grand hall, within sight of the Kremlin, hosted the funerals of Soviet leaders Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin and Leonid Brezhnev. Gorbachev will be given a military guard of honour - but his funeral will not be a state one. State television on Thursday showed Putin solemnly placing red roses beside Gorbachev's coffin - left open as is traditional in Russia - in Moscow's Central Clinical Hospital, where he died on Tuesday aged 91. On PM Modi's Corruption Attack On Rival Parties, A Reply From Bihar

Patna:  A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comment on "political groups getting together to save the corrupt", Nitish Kumar's retort featured Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who headed the BJP government in the past. The Bihar Chief Minister also took a swipe at the ruling party over defections and government changes in different states. PM Modi, on arriving last night in Kerala's Kochi, said his government's action against corruption had led to "new polarisation" in national politics. "To save these corrupt people, certain political groups are openly coming out and trying to get organised into a unit. People of India and Kerala have to be vigilant against such groups," he said. Opposition parties accuse the Centre of using probe agencies to target them and pressure their party leaders into switching sides to enable the collapse of opposition governments. The PM's comments were seen to be aimed specifically at Nitish Kumar, who recentl...
